September 29 - October 3

On fabulous Friday we were ready for home a few minutes early so we had a musical march ... the children thought they made up a great band!

Tommy Turkey has arrived each day he is hidden somewhere in the class and the children are asked to find Tommy!

Charlene Clark our Literacy Coach was in to read a story to the children and to discuss what is the main idea of the book!  She will be a frequent visitor to our classroom!

I dropped in early to see what was happening in music class.  Ms Mac and the children showed me one of their favorite songs.  I think the children kept better time to the beat than I did!

The children are trying to follow straight lines, curvy line and zip zag lines ... skills for printing!

The red apple was the most favorite from the data on our graph.

In Social Studies we are learning about needs and wants.  This is a hard concept for children to grasp.  We had quite the discussion on a couple of the items and went with the majority vote!

One of our math work jobs .... choose a number and then place than many worms on the apple.  Turn taking,  counting and fun all in one activity!

More pre-writing follow the path with your marker!

Label the parts of the apple!

Kindergarten offered to do the art for the office display for October.  The children mixed red and yellow paint to make orange for the pumpkin body,  blue and yellow paint was mixed to make the green for the stem and grass and then white and black construction paper, crayons or markers were used to add detail.  It took us three days in small groups to complete the project.  The children were developing their fine motor skills, social skills by working in a group, science by mixing the colors, creative skills were also being developed.  One activity that was linked to many outcomes!  The children seemed to enjoy the project!

The finished office display!  Drop into the school if you are around to check it out!  I think the children did an awesome job! Special Thank you to Mrs. Rushton for putting the art on the wall.

Measuring an apple using cubes, coloring the number of cubes,  printing the number and drawing their favorite apple!

This literacy work job was a little tricky... the children had to match the top and bottom of an apple that had the same beginning sound!

Roll a dice and use cubes to build up on each number!

Rhyming apple pies - each pie had a picture and the children had to find three pictures that rhymed with the picture to put on the pie!
