March 13 - 17 ~~~~~ It was all about St. Patrick's Day and our Spring Fling

Isabella Gallant was our last “Star of the Week” congratulations Isabella!

The children did some St. Patrick’s Day decorating!

Our Art Wall Leprechaun’s!

Lenny the Leprechaun was hiding each day.  He was difficult to find this day as he was hiding in the Shamrock!

This work job was a concentration game.  Find two matching St. Patrick’s Day pictures.

Color, count and tally the St. Patrick’s Day items.

Lucky Charms count and tally.  The best part was eating the lucky charms when you finished.

St. Patrick’s Day pot of gold puzzle.  Color, cut apart and glue the puzzle pieces onto the right part of the pot!

Some pictures of our Spring Fling Talent Show! The children were quite excited to have the opportunity to strut their stuff!

Some gym activities on our mini winter carnival day!

Art in the Dark!!!  Special thank you to Ms. Johnston for organizing and leading this project.  Special thank you to all the helpers as well.  The students enjoyed the painting and their pictures turned out really well!

Our fundraiser Pie The Teacher …. Brooklynn’s name was drawn and I believe she really enjoyed getting to put a pie in my face!

We have been working on getting all the rocks in our bucket.  A rock was put in the bucket each time the class was complimented by an outside source on how well our class was doing something. Ex; walking quietly in the hallway, listening well for a library story, being attentive during a presentation.  We celebrated by making “Dirt and Worm” Sundaes!  The children really enjoyed the celebration treat!

We read a St. Patrick’s Day story and in the book was a note that we were to follow the clues to find Lenny’s Pot of Gold.  We did some mapping as we followed the clues.

Lenny’s pot had some pencils, lucky coins and a couple of lollipops for everyone.

Nevaeh is making her re-read pointer power stick.  She was absent the day Mrs. Dickieson was in and made them with the class.

Some outdoor recess pictures!

March 6 - 9 ~~~~~~~ Review Week

Working with the whiteboards, printing the Alphabet and numbers to 10.

Mrs. Dickieson was back and we did some more work on the re-read power.  She brought materials and all the students made their own unique re-read power pointers.

Some learning centre activities.

Jessica Matheson, Registered Dietitian, from PEI School Milk was in do a presentation of Yum’s Adventures featuring Fussy Pants and YumYum. The students learnt about the importance of milk and also the importance of following the Canada’s Food Guide.

Popcorn was on sale on Thursday. I bought a couple of extra bags and we emptied them onto paper towels during learning centre time.  Here are some of the children having a popcorn picnic.

Parent Teacher Interviews… my first interview was right at 2:30 no time to tidy the class so the students are helping do a clean up before they go home.

February 28 - March 3

As I work with one group for guided reading the other students are working quietly at a centre. This week I set up playdough, puzzles,Lego and pattern blocks.

We finally finished our Valentine work jobs this week.

I have started using the LCD projector for the morning message.

We took a couple of days to write 100 words!!!

The students asked if we could decorate our class for our 100 Days of school.  So we decided that 10 chains with 10 loops on each of them would be a great idea.  The children worked in groups and as they finished we decided where each chain should hang in our class.  I overheard one little one the class looks beautiful.  So teamwork, fine motor, and class decor all in one little activity.

Our 100th Day T-Shirt Fashion Show.  We had to create a dressing room and the runway.  The grade four class( our book buddies)  came up to be our audience. Ms. Johnston became the photographer.  The students and I had lots of fun, modeling our t-shirts.  Thank you for sending in the t-shirts. Each one was unique and awesome!

Kindergarten, grade 1,2,and 3 had lots of fun going from room to room with a baggie, ten frame and items on a clipboard and collecting 10 of each treat to take home. Lots of excitement, counting and hearing which treat was the favorite.  At the end of the day my class asked if they could do it again tomorrow.

After our fashion show grade 4 and kindergarten were divided into two teams.  With Tanner and Devon being the team leaders.  Each group was given 100 cups and asked to build something with the cups.  There was a couple of tumbles as the creations fell but all in all everyone worked together quite well.

Our 100th Day booklets.  Your children are definitely looking 100 years old. Notice the wrinkles and canes!

At our assembly Brooklynn and Benjamin were recognized for being our students of the month. Congratulations Brooklynn and Benjamin!
