Some learning centre activities …

The train track is a favorite learning cente choice,  the track is seldom put together in the the same way.  The students have great imaginations and are very creative as they put the track together.

The writing centre is another favorite centre.  Lots of letters and booklets are being made.

I bought some gourds and the children decided on eyes, hair and which pom pom for the nose and used a permanent marker for the mouth!  Quite the personalities we have in our creations!
The students decorated our Halloween display table!

I was on outside duty and got a couple of pictures before the other students arrived outside.

October 16 - 18 Finishing up our Apple Theme and beginning our Halloween Theme

How many letters are in my name? Print a letter of her name on each apple and place that many apples up on top.

Each student was given orange, green, and yellow construction paper and asked to make a pumpkin person.  Each little person had a unique personality!

Working on initial sounds.  Some children found this quite challenging!

We talked about a recipe, discussed what we thought might go into making an apple pie.  I was quite impressed with the list.  Some children must have helped bake apple pies before!

Everyone washed their hands, and began to cut up the apples.  Only one cut finger in the process.

I had pre-made the pie crust.  The children just had to add a scoop of the pie mixture and the top crust.

The finished cooked pies!

Now the best part we got to eat our apple pies.  The comments went from beautiful, very good, wonderful, I don’t like it, disgusting, and not so good.

Ten frame activity… pick a yellow number, and place on the left circle by the ten frame.  Add that number of spiders, count the empty boxes and the result 2 spiders and 8 empty boxes make 10.  We discovered that it did not matter how many spiders and empty boxes the end result was always 10.

Two teams playing concentration!  Some children are really good at watching the pictures when someone turns over a card.

Some learning centre activities!

Holden make Griffin a letter during learning centre time.  Griffin is opening it up to see what Holden made for him. He thanked Holden for the nice book.

The writing centre is a big hit in the classroom.  If you have any stickers, stampers, envelopes, or speciality paper that the children could use at the writing table.  Please send it in. Thank you!

Our World Smile Day Display!!!  Just one look at the smiles and I smile!

After reading the story Ten Apples Up on Top by Dr. Seuss.  We all tried to see how many apples we could balance on our head!  It is more difficult than the book portrays!!

Seeing who recognizes the numbers and number concepts in a fun way.  Turn a number over and add that many apples up on top!

Apple life cycle crowns!

Beginning sounds, place the cards with the same sounds on the leaf. Ex t & tiger.

More on beginning sounds match the top of the apple to the bottom with a picture that begins with the same sound. Ex; mat & moon.
