September 11-15 Blog Notes and other information

Look who’s Popping into Kindergarten!

Holden arrived last Friday afternoon.

It was all about Ss and Aa this week.  Here we are learning more about things and people who begin with Ss and the proper formation. Students made an upper and lowercase Ss and drew two items beginning with S.

Sorting items into the proper letter sounds.

Pete the Cat only has one shoe, find the other matching shoe, cut it out and glue it on with the other matching shoe.

Our Art …. Cut out color, and decorate your own rocking school shoe!

Coloring and making your own Pete The Cat book to read and take home.

Pete the Cat puzzle, lots of teamwork required to complete this work job!

Our first fire drill,  line up and go out to the three spruce trees.  The children did an awesome job!

Enjoying a game of alphabet bingo!

Our first time with our grade 4 book buddies.  Thank you grade 4.

Math is all about patterns.  We noticed some patterns in the Math Makes Sense big book, and created our own with blocks and us as well!

In the afternoon, we have learning centres.  This is the choice board.  Each day a different color gets to choose first.  We try to have two rotations.
Some learning centre pictures!

The Dot!  We read the story and using coffee filters, we signed our name with pen, used markers to make a design.

International Dot Day!  We were able to find a dot somewhere on each student.

The fun begins… we spray our marker, coffee filtre dots with water to see the end result of our coffee filtre dots.  We all started with a mark and it was interesting to see where it took the picture.  Everyone has the ability to be creative and it’s important to sign your work.

A class picture of us all with out dots!

The final display of our “The Dot” wall.  Grades 1, 2, and 3 artistic dots and it looks fantastic!!!  Thanks everyone for participating!

After big recess, we have a few minutes quiet time. It settles our bodies and gets us ready for the afternoon.

I was on outside duty and was able to get a few outdoor pictures.
So, as you can see we had a very busy first full week!  I have to say kindergarten is a lot of fun!
