Working on creating Thanksgiving Turkeys!

Finding the hidden pumpkins!

Illustrating what we are thankful for ...

Math activities - matching, patterns, and number puzzles.

First one student makes an AB pattern and then the other student copies the pattern.  The children did an excellent job!

We were introduced to the dress up clothing in dramatic play ... lots of learning was happening as we cooperated, helped each other with zippers and ties, and decided who was going to wear which items.

Each day Tommy turkey was hidden somewhere in the class and the students had to find him.

Our display table where we decorate with the theme.  The children are encouraged to put something on the table if they wish.  Ben added the small pumpkin gourds and Luke added some acorns.  Thanks boys!

How many cubes tall is your apple?

Label the parts of the apple. Stem, skin, core, flesh, and seeds!

Making our own apple book!

Making  creative apples - using yarn and a pipe cleaner.  Most people decided to made red or green apples.   Three people decided to make yellow apples.

After reading the story Ten Apples Up On Top ... we decided to make a class apple book.  The numbers were placed in a bag and whatever number you drew out was the number of apples on top of your head.  We will all have a turn to take the book home overnight!

Learning centre time fun!  The train track was a big success, the children are now beginning to login and find the programs that are bookmarked on the computers and the lego is used every day!

Extra apple jobs .. count the apples click a clothespin on the number, using tongs, a clothespin or chop sticks place apples on the trees.  Find the apples with the correct number of seeds, tally marks and the number to go on the apple ten frames.

Fun at Arlington Orchard!

The Dennis Farm ... we have never seen so many chickens!

KA and KB got together to make applesauce .. First we washed the apples, then peeled and diced put them in a pot with water and cooked them.  Mashed the apples and added sugar and cinnamon.  Delicious!

Our Hall display!  The curriculum outcomes that we have worked on during our apple theme are listed. We worked on Literacy, Math, Science, Creative, Social Studies and Physical Development.  The best part is that the learning was fun!
