February 22 - 25 100th Day of School

100 pennies, gems, pasta, mini Thomas Trains, beads, candy, toothpicks, Lego, nickels, macaroni, and more pennies!

Wearing our 100th Day Crowns!!!

We were amazed at how many items that were in Miss Bindergarten's class were also in our class!

The children all drew what they thought they might look like at 100 years old.  Notice the wrinkles and a few are walking with canes.

We went on a 100th Day of School March!

The favorite 100 Day activity Kindergarten, grade one and two joined together and set up 10 stations.  The children were given 10 frames, a checklist and a baggie to put their treat treasures in to take home.

Great castle Henry and Kyden!

Wearing pink for Anti- Bullying!

Happy Birthday Henry!

February 16 - 19 Dinosaur Days

Logan Bernard was our Star of the Week!  Congratulations Logan!

There was great excitement as we placed the dinosaur egg in a large container of water to see what would happen.  There was even more excitement as the egg began to hatch.  Visitors were asked to come in and see what was happening.  The big fear was what if the dinosaur hatched and got out of the jar and was running around the school when we were home this week-end?

Digging into the sand box to discover dinosaur related words.  I believe the most popular words were fossil, scientist, and paleontologist!  When you are finished you play a dinosaur board game.

Fill the dinosaur shape with pattern blocks and then record how many of each block was on your dinosaur.  When you finished this job you play Dress the dinosaur with a partner. You turn over two number cards and whoever had the highest card put a plate on their dinosaur.  Continue until all the dinosaur plates were gone.

Measuring dinosaur bones with links, cars, Lego, and blocks.  Record how many of each item it took to measure the bones.  When you are finished you use the sight word game Goo-goo-asaurs!

This was the favorite work job this week. Erupting Volcanoes!!!  First add some baking soda and then the vinegar!  The excitement was awesome!!! Before they got to this job they went clipboard cruising around the room. There were ten dinosaur footprints with numbers and pictures on them. On your clipboard were ten dinosaur footprints and as you discovered each footprint you recorded the sounds you heard for each picture. Ex; number 3 had a picture of a cat – c, ct, or cat were all correct.

Dinosaur footprint clipboard cruising!

During learning centre time Logan created an magnetic house for his ninja turtle.

Printing the words discovered in the sand box!

Dress the Dinosaur Game!

Dinosaur floor puzzle.  The class had to work together to complete it!  We have another floor dinosaur puzzle for next week.

The train set is always a popular choice.  The track can be put together many different ways.

Everyone was given a whiteboard and asked to print the alphabet and the numbers to ten.  Many of the children continue to struggle to hold a pencil/marker properly.  I remind them to pinch and flip.  I also have given some students pencil grips to use when using a pencil.

Help Dinosaur find her Eggs game that was used after digging and printing the dinosaur related words.

Musical chairs the traditional way where we removed a chair each time.

Musical chairs the non-competitive way where no one gets eliminated.  If you do not have a chair you need to sit on someone else or be touching them.  Lots of laughter going on here!

Call a friends’ name and toss the balloon to that friend!
