September 23 - 27 - Finishing up Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom - creative coconut paintings, look who's in KA and KB, and counting how many letters are in our friends name.

Our science experiment.  Do you like coconut?  The children asked their friends and recorded the findings.

Creating coconut paintings .... the children noticed when the blue and yellow mixed together it made green!

Count the number of coconuts in each box and circle the number.  Is there one, two, three, four or five coconuts in the box?

Pick a letter out of the container.  Find and color it on your coconut tree.

Button sorting ... the children sorted by color, size and shape.  There were buttons everywhere!

The Lego table is quite popular.  The children are using fine motor control and lots of creativity at this table.  We could use some more wheels and axles.

The children enjoyed listening to the story Down The Drain by Robert Munch!

It was a beautiful afternoon for our Terry Fox Walk.  Home and School was ready with water and chocolate milk when we returned to the school.  It was a nice treat!

September 16 - 19

Our Chicka Chicka Boom Tree has many letters on it!

We discovered that Ben has three letters in his name  Luke, Zoey and Ryly have four , Tyson has five, Walker, Jaiden and Miljot all have six and Montana has seven letters in her name.  We also discovered that the names were in an AB pattern.

The science of making bubbles is not as easy as we imagined.  If you do not blow out on the straw the bubble solution does not taste very good.  If you blow really hard you cannot make big bubbles.  By blowing very gently the bubbles got bigger and bigger!

We are making our own chicka chicka boom trees.  We are working on our cutting skills, letter recognition as we put our names on the trees, and appropriate use of glue.  We also are responsible for putting the materials away and cleaning up our work job area.

Roll the dice and color the part of the tree that has the number you rolled on it.  Working on turn taking , fine motor skills and number recognition.

Walk around the classroom and find the letters on the wall.  Circle the letters you find on your clipboard. Fun way to work on letter matching.

Working with the blocks during learning centre time.  Beautiful city boys!

Computers during learning centre time.  Soon we will be able to login in and go to our favorite sites all by ourselves.

The pattern blocks work job the skills being worked on include: matching shapes, fine motor and social skills.

The magnets the children are again working on social skills such as cooperation, turn taking ,and creative development!

We will be learning all about AB patterns and here is an AB pattern using the children!

Fabulous Friday ... the children are really enjoying the social at snack  time!
More fabulous Friday !

Your Me On The Map pictures are great is is a nice way to learn a little more about each child.  This activity fits really well with our social studies outcome 1.1: recognize and describe personal interests, characteristics, and preferences that make them unique and special.
