September 19 - 22

Sentence strip activity.  Look at the book and put the sentences together.

Some learning centre time activities.

The Ocean floor puzzle.  This took a lot of teamwork.  When the puzzle was completed I had all the children put their hands one on top of each other and on the count of three we did a teamwork cheer!

Draw out a letter card and cover it with a picture of Chester.  If you drew a card that said freebie you could cover any letter.  Matching letter to letter activity.

Zero The Hero had his first visit to our classroom.  Each time we are in school and there is a zero in the date.  Zero the Hero arrives.  He has a couple of songs, a story, and a zero shaped candy.  We learn that zero is a very important number.

Working with individual whiteboards.  We were working on letter formation and then we drew a picture of ourselves.  The children are beginning to add more detail with some support.   Ex: I may suggest that hair or arms could be added.

The class computers were turned on after the children get comfortable with logins and the programs I will be signing out the chrome carts.

This work job was a board game. Roll the dice move that many spaces. Turn taking and counting important skills to learn.

Counting the hands and clipping a clothespin on the correct number.  Looking at the number and placing that number of erasers on the sheet.

Our Terry Fox Walk.  It was a beautiful day for our walk.  Thank you to Mr. Doran for walking with us and also our volunteers. The leadership students had a popsicle treat waiting upon our return.

September 12 - 16

Measuring Chester’s raccoon tail using cars and blocks!

Create an AB pattern.  Cut out the pictures and continue the pattern.

Roll the number cube, which number will race to the finish first? When you roll a number you may print that number in the race line or make a circle.

Numbers 1-5. Cut out the raccoons and glue the correct number of raccoons into each space.

Sorting the bears by color and size.

Outside recess on my outdoor duty day.

I introduce the turn and talk concept.  The children were asking each other what they liked to play.

Chenoa build a tower structure and we thought it would be an awesome picture!

We made Flubber in class.  The children think this is pretty awesome!

During snack we sometimes will listen to a story from TumbleBooks using the LCD Projector

Some team spirit Jersey’s!  Thank you to Brooklynn who took the picture for me.

We have been learning all about AB patterns.  I often get the children involved for more hands on learning.

It was time to change the materials for learning centre time.  We discussed what I had available and here are some of the new choices made by the students, marble works, the water table, adding the house to dramatic play and the train set.

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star I wished for you and here you are. Our door sign.

First day of school pictures.

Creating our Chester the Raccoon headbands.

Getting used to a routine the work jobs this week consisted of playdough, stringing beads, and pattern blocks.

Outside at recess.

Some learning centre time activities.

After reading The Kissing Hand, Chester left us some clues to follow while touring the school.  In the end we were back in our classroom with some chocolate kisses waiting for the children.
