February 11 - 22 ... Valentine's Day and Reviewing

Creating beautiful Valentine heart
trees for our families.

Each Valentine Mailbox was unique
and beautiful. I hope you had fun
with your family creating the boxes.

A close up of the building structure.
The boys asked if I would take a
picture for them.

The whiteboards are a favorite
activity. We always do some words,
letters or numbers and then have a
little time to be creative.

February 4 - 8 ~~~~ The Hat by Jan Brett

Our hallway display area … working on
 guided writing where children are
expected to write the sight words,
will guidance leave spaces and write
down the sounds they hear in unknown
words and end their writing with
 a punctuation.

We have been working on an
active hallway for the students as
they move from one area to another.
 Thank you to Amanda McCarville
for initiating this project.

Blain Buchanan Signs and Trophies
graciously donated the vinyl for some of
the designs on the floor. (feet, hands, dots, etc)
 Thank you Blain.

The Hat … help Lisa get her clothing
back from the animals.  Take turns
picking a card. Who will get all
the clothing back for Lisa first?

Color and cut out the pieces from
the story.  Put in an envelope
and take home to retell the story
with your family.

Spell the characters and clothing
 articles with the letter tiles.

Count and record the hidden
shapes in the hat. Decorate the
 hat any way you wish.

Whiteboard work… first we worked
on number formation and number concepts.
Then we have a few minutes to draw.

The retelling of The Hat …
everyone present had a part of
 illustrating the story.

I thought it would be nice to add
a little fun to our math.  We have been
working on the same, more or less.
So I set up some chairs and some children
were on my train and then I had the
children make another train with more
children on it, less children on it.
I discovered they knew the same
and more quite well but were unsure of less.

Some learning centre pictures!
