September 25 Blog Notes and other info…

This work job was an assortment of math jobs… count the objects and clip a clothespin on the correct number, arrange the Pete in size order, sort and count the buttons and put the puzzle together to make Pete.

Create your own Pete, cut out, glue together and details for the face, etc

Board game, roll the dice, move that number of spaces.

Each Pete had a number on him, attach that amount of buttons and then put the pictures in number order.

A completed Pete with the number 7, seven buttons are attached.

Zero the Hero made his first appearance in the class.  Each day when we do the calendar in the morning and a zero is on the calendar Zero visits, we sing a couple of Zero songs, read the book Zero and there is a zero shaped candy for each student.

Hat day… some awesome looking hats!

We were working with the whiteboards, making some letters and numbers and finally everyone drew a picture of themselves and printed their names.

We started off with a large container of magnetic letters, first we sorted by color and then everyone found the letters to make their name.

Some learning centre pictures. The skills the children are learning include, sharing, turn taking, helping each other, appropriate use of the materials, inside voices, problem solving, and creativity to name a few.

Buttons … each child was given a pile of buttons and asked to sort them.  When finished they were asked to sort in a different way.  The buttons were sorted by color, size, shape and by the number of holes on each button.  When this was finished the children were asked to make a two color pattern (AB pattern).

The children all drew their version of Pete the Cat! We have some awesome looking Pete’s!

Some of the Pete displays. The outcomes we are working on with this theme as posted. Lots of math, literacy and creative outcomes being worked on in a fun way!

Show and Tell … each day different students have a turn for show and tell.  If you are sick or absent bring your show and tell the following day.  If you forget bring it on your next Show and Tell Day.
Monday= Emily, Grace & Bransen, Tues= Harper & Emma, Wednesday = Seth & Nevaeh and Thursday = Griffin & Holden

Individual pictures of each child during learning centre time.  Each child is engaged and busy!

Our Terry Fox walk. It was a beautiful day for the walk and the grade nine students helped our class.  Thank you grade nine!
