September 28 - October 2 Our final week with Pete the Cat!

Pete the Cat aka Mr. Lynch was to visit the class !  The children were quite excited!

Dancing with Pete the Cat .. one of the favorite Pete books was Rocking in My School Shoes.!

We all chose our favorite Pete book!

In social studies we were discussing different kinds of groups that people belong in and discovered that everyone belongs in groups.

Some tabletop activities... working on fine motor control!

Learning centre time the straws and connectors were a big hit!  Thank you Mrs. Arsenault for lending them to our class.

Pete the cat boardgame.  Turn taking, counting spaces and just having fun!


Pete the cat puzzle was a work job.  The children needed to cooperate and use teamwork to complete the puzzle!

This work job had an assortment of math activities to complete.

There was so much news we decided that we should do a newspaper page!

Mr. MacDonald came to visit our class on Friday and the children read a couple of books to him.

September 21 - 25 Week # 2 with Pete The Cat!

Now all students have had their first day pictures taken!

Use the letter tiles to make some words that Pete the Cat likes!

Sorting buttons and shoes.  Cut out the buttons and shoes and sort, then glue into two different groups!


 Cutting with scissors can be a challenging skill to develop.  Give your child an old magazine, a pair of scissors and have them cut and glue the pictures on a sheet of paper. 
Each student colored and decorated their own Rocking in my School Shoe!

Making individual Pete books.  The students will be bringing them home this week!

Working on letter Ii.  First make an uppercase and lowercase Ii.  Then draw two items that begin with I.

The computers and easels were open this week as part of learning centre time.

Learning centre time- the children are developing social skills, voice volume control, and many motor skills.

We each drew a Pete the Cat!

Who are these masked people at dramatic play?

Lots of cooperation and sharing at these centres.  If there is a block structure build as long as it is on the mat in the block area the children may leave it up. Sawyer, Jasper and Evan worked together to build this block masterpiece!

September 14 - 18 More Learning with Pete The Cat!

More first day pictures!


Art work job - creating your own Pete the Cat!  Lots of fine motor work!

September 8 - 11 Settling into our Kindergarten Routine

What an awesome class!

First day pictures!  I will add your child's photo after I receive permission from you for your child to be on my blog.

Here is a peak of Pete the Cat!  We will have lots of fun learning with Pete this month!

The children were busy making their own Pete the cat headbands! Coloring and cutting are wonderful fine motor activities!

We will be working on pencil grasps!

After reading I love My White Shoes - we followed Pete's clues , had a tour of the school and ended up back in the class to find some Pete the Cat Cookies!

Some learning centre time activities ... the children quickly realize that you need to share and take turns with your friends!

We went to the Library with our grade 4 book buddies. The grade 4 students helped the kindergarten students trace their hands and colored them together... Hand in hand they will learn together!

Each day every child has a job to do in our classroom.  They re our colorful helper jobs and the students keep their job for a week!

Here we are going on the tour of the school, following the clues left by Pete!
