December 4 - 8 ~~~~ The Gingerbread Man has arrived!!!

Upon arrival we discovered two beautiful gingerbread cookies.  We decided it would be a good idea to save them and share them with all the students  in the afternoon!

Oh No!  The cookies have disappeared!!!!

Finish the gingerbread pattern!

Find the hidden words on the gingerbread house and use the color code to color the house.

Clipboard cruising for words on gingerbread cookies!

Roll the dice color the part with that number on the gingerbread man.

Our countdown until Christmas day.  Each day we cut off a day!  The time is getting shorter each day!

Some learning centre time pictures!

Our hallway gingerbread theme display.  I drew an outline of a gingerbread house and a Christmas tree.  Then the students painted the art!

The finished display, we added gingerbread men that Mrs. Gorveatt gave to our class.  They have taken over the display.  For some of the Gingerbread stories, we have made story maps, this includes the name of the book, author and illustrator, characters, setting, problem and the solution or what happened at the end of the story.

We acted out The Gingerbread Man,  lots of fun with this activity!

I baked some gingerbread cookies at home and brought them in for the students to decorate and eat for morning snack.

Each student took one bite of their gingerbread cookie and then we did a little math on who ate which part first!  More children bit off the leg and ate it first.

A wonderful way to end the week with the Freeze Dance!  Lots of great moves!

November 27 - December 1 ~~~ Finishing up Mrs. Wishy-Washy

Portfolio time… choose two items of your work you wish to save and put in your portfolio.  Hard decisions to make.

Concept of spoken word matching printed word.  Put the cut apart sentences together.  Read the sentence touching each word.

Mrs. Wishy-Washy playdough mats.  Print the words using playdough.  Make Mrs. Wishy-Washy or the other characters.

Clipboard cruising with words from Mrs. Wishy-Washy!  The students are becoming very neat printers.

Find the pictures that begin with the initial sound on each card.  Then put the word families together.

Roll the dice and place an animal in each tub.  How many rolls before you can fill up your tub card.  When finished do some sorting and pattern making with the bears.

Swat the sight words.  Using a fly swatter swat the sight word that is called out.

I wonder if you can guess who our mystery shadow silhouette is on the whiteboard.

Some children finished up their workjobs early so I introduced some file folder games for them to use.

We have three big Mrs. Wishy-Washy book that  we have been using, we chose our favorite big book.  Looks like all three books were favorites.

Fabulous Friday at snack time the students are able to sit wherever they wish.  The only rule is if someone wants to stay in their own spot that’s fine as well.

Mrs. Wishy-Washy paid a visit to the classroom.  The students thought she was pretty neat!

Our classroom door.  Each class is to decorate our door but it is supposed to be done by the students.  So I asked the students what Christmas meant to them and they drew a picture with their answer.  I think it looks pretty awesome!
We are going to do an ONLINE vote!  Open to the public!   Link to follow soon!

We are going to do K-9 vote to end DEC 14th - then from that vote we will take the TOP K-3 class, 4-6 class, and 7-9 class for a championship voting round - voting end Dec 21st - results announced DEC 22nd.  Each class will have a picture of their door for the vote.

The online voting will be set up so you can only vote once per email address, but you and your students can share the link and anyone can vote in the public. So promote your door as much as you like!!

Gingerbread people are everywhere!!!  The children decorated the display table with items from my gingerbread theme box!

Some learning centre pictures!

The writing table is the most sought after learning centre.  Sometimes if it is full the students ask if they can sit at their own table and draw and write.

Alfred our classroom Elf has arrived he is hidden in a different area each night.

Thank you to everyone who sent food in for our food drive.  Nevaeh and Seth went to see if Mr. Grady had a box we could use to put our food in.  Thank you Mr. Grady!
