November 27 & 28 ...... The Snowflake Project!

Each class is making items to decorate
the gym for the Christmas Concert,
 relating to snowflakes.
Step 1 - Each child was given 4
wooden sticks and the washable markers
 were available to color them
up any colors they wished.
Then I glued the sticks together

Step 2 - Mrs. Silker stopped in
to see if there was anything she
could help the class with for a little
while.  She helped with the glue
and glitter. There were four colors
of glitter to choose from.
I added the string for hanging.

Step 3 - Ms. Stephanie stopped in to
see if she could help us for a while.
I had a large dish of many assorted
items and some sparkly pom poms for
 the children to choose anything
they wished. They laid it out on
the sticks and Ms. Stephanie glued
the items on.

The finished project!!!
I think they are absolutely beautiful.
Not one is identical. The children
 were thrilled with their snowflakes.
They will be able to take them
home after the concert.

November 5 - 7

Stringing Letters … string the letters
you recognize.  If you do not know
 the letter ask your friends.
Fine motor, literacy and fun!

Kanga Kangaroo has a pouch full
of uppercase letters. Take a letter
if you know it you keep it on the table.
If you do not know the letter,
ask your friends and then put
the letter back in Kanga’s pouch.
 Pass Kanga to your friend.

Say it, build it write it.
Using the sight words, put a
sight word on the top of the sheet,
build it with the letter tiles
 and finally print the word.

Sink or float.  First print your
name on your sheet,  then cut the
pictures off your sheet. Take turns
dropping items into the water.
Glue the picture of the item
onto the sink or float side of your sheet.

Hearing and clapping syllables.
Each child was given a picture.
They said the name of the picture
slowly, clapped the syllables and placed
 the picture under the number
to show how many syllables they heard.

Group work … teams to work on puzzles.
If your group finished your puzzle
they joined another group to help
them complete the puzzle they
 were working on.

Some learning centre pictures!

Part Part whole. Drop the disks on the mat.
Some are all red and some have a
black centre.  Count them to see what
 combination they make for 10.
3 red and 7 black = 10

Our Remembrance Day Ceremony.

Turn and Talk.  The children are getting
good at talking and then listening to
 their friend talk.

Parker Grimmer, Director of the
Public Schools Branch was at our school.
He spent some time in our classroom.
The students read him our Big Book of Names
and told him some of the things they were
 learning in kindergarten.
After Mr. Grimmer read the class,
Can I Play Too? By Mo Willems.
The picture captured his enjoyment of reading
and how engaged the children were as he read.
