October 3 - 7

We are Thankful . . .  Kindergarten, grades 1,2,and 3 added Thankful feathers to our Thankful Turkey

Susan Harris Senior Library Technician was in to read a couple of stories to the class.

Number Bingo the students enjoyed the number activity!

Count and build A tower.  Numbers 1-6.

Last week our frozen treat day.  Some students did not have money to buy a treat and when I asked if some children would share they did so without hesitation.  This was very nice to see.

Mmmmm, Mmmmm Good!  Turn over a leaf number and add that many worms to the apple.  Help each other count.

Rhyming apples baskets add two apple pictures that rhyme to the picture with the picture on the basket.

Initial sounds can you find the top and bottom of each apple that begins with the same sound?

Writing your name on the whiteboards and each student received a name puzzle where the letters were cut up inside the envelope and the task was to put the letter is the proper sequence of their name.  I was also checking to see who knew the letters in  their name.

A fun fine motor activity.  Using chopsticks who can place four apples on the apple tree first. Lot of laughter with this activity.

How to draw a turkey.  We discussed the directions and then it was time to practice on the whiteboards.  The children did an awesome job of drawing their turkeys!

Tommy Turkey arrived in our classroom.  Each day the children had to find Tommy.  He was really tricky when he hid in the flowers!

Using magnetic letters we were learning about the names and shapes of letters. Then I asked the students to sort the letters any way they wished.  Most sorted by color so I challenged to find sort them by letters and they also were spelling their names.  The children learned that letters are different from each other and that they can notice the parts of the letters.

Our Thanksgiving Turkeys.  The children each created their own turkey.  They each have their own unique personality!

We ended the week by singing a song about fall.  Special thank you to Mrs. Gorveatte’s class by providing a basket of leaves for the students to use.  It was lots of fun singing about how the leaves were falling down.  The children really enjoyed tossing the leaves in the air and seeing them fall down.
