September 26 - 30

The students decorate our display table for our Fall Apple Them

  • Color the apple tree before using markers to color the apples on the tree

  • Connect the numbers from 1-10.  It makes the outline of an apple.Color the apple your favorite color of an apple.

  • Label the apple - stem, seeds, core, flesh, and skin.

Color your own Apple tree to read and take home.

  • The taste test begins!  Which apple do you like the taste of the best? Red, green, or yellow.

  • It looks like the red apple is the one that is liked the best.

Our class predictions!  2/12 seeds floated and 10/12 seeds sank.  The next day all 12 seeds sank to the bottom of the jar.

  • Color the apples that have the letters in your name.

  • We discovered that if you slice an apple in half from the top to bottom you see a star shape!

  • Some learning centre time activities!

Apples up on Top - activities based on the story Ten Apples Up on Top by Dr. Seuss.

  • We all tried to balance apples on our head. Chenoa was able to balance two apples on her head!

  • Working on an apple art project.  Rip construction paper into pieces glue it onto a paper plate, add a stem and leaf!

The results displayed on our Wall of Art!

  • We took a vote on what we should bake with apples.  Apple pie had the most votes.

  • The pie baking begins. First we all wash our hands.  Mrs. Dumville pre-made the tops and bottom crusts at home.  We peeled and diced the apples, added brown sugar, cinnamon, flour, sugar and a little flour. We mixed this up and put our pie crust in the bottom of the pan, added a scoop of filling, a drop of butter and placed the top crust on the pie.  We took a fork and went around the edges.  Mrs.Dumville made our initial on the pie and took them to Mr. Acorn to bake for us.  We got to eat our pie after big recess.  Most students really enjoyed their pie!

  • We as a class brainstormed to what sitting on the mat should look and sound like.  Mrs. Dumville took some pictures and now we remember what to do on the mat at circle time.

  • Here we are following the directions we decided about how we are supposed to sit on the mat. Mrs. Dickieson, the K-6 Language Arts/Social Studies Innovation Leader with The Department of Education,Early Learning and Culture was into visit the class on Friday and discuss how we did this learning and was it helpful.  She took some pictures and recorded their responses.
