January 15 - 19 ~~~ Winter

Caleb had his 6th Birthday!  Happy birthday Caleb!
He thought he should get something out of the treasure basket to celebrate!

Our literacy popcorn is definitely popping up!
The children are doing a great job of telling
the class about the books that have been read.

We made some colorful snowflakes.
The students picked their favorite color of construction paper
and were able to choose two colors of glitter to add some sparkle.

This winter work job consisted of a snowman, multiple hats
with a number on each one and a container of buttons.
Choose a hat, add that amount of buttons to the snowman.

 We were
working on rhyming drawings the children
were all moved to individual areas in the room and
as I read the instructions they filled in the rhyme
 and drew that part.
The first day the drawings were quite small so
I discussed how I would like the children to fill their paper and the next day
 there was quite a difference.

We also made Shivery Snowmen, mixing shaving cream
and white glue and adding a few sparkles for the body.
Then we set out lots of odds and ends for the extra details.  Lots of fun!!!

Printing winter words.  Look at the picture find the
winter word and print it in the boxes.

Snowman Shake … shake two sight word cubes
and print the words. Which sight words will race to the finish?

Color the snowman by color code,  roll the sight word dice,
color the word part the code color.

Sharing books with a partner, looking for sight words in the books.

Griffin and Grace had a turn to write
 the morning message.
The container of fancy words comes in handy
when deciding what kind of a day you would like the class to have.

We were working on heavier, lighter and
almost the same using the scales.
The children had fun learning, and predicting which item would be the heaviest.

Some learning centre time pictures!
