Day 1 of our Literacy Day Display ...Good Books Keep Popping Up!!!

Writer’s workshop … working on beginning with a period, spacing
and ending with a punctuation.

Shivery Snowmen!!! We mixed shaving cream, glitter, and glue together.
Put out a variety of items and created snowmen.  Lots of creativity going
on with this activity!

Outdoor recess, lots of ice under the snow.

The writing table is always full.  So if other children wish to write
they can bring items to another table.

There was lots of excitement as Guardian Drug had told me
to come back after Christmas and they would have more envelopes for us.
I stopped and came back with three full bags of envelopes!!!
There was lots of excitement at the writing centre.
Special thank you to O’Leary Guardian Drugstore.

The train track is also used each day it is open.  The track is never put together
 the very same way!

Sort, count, and record the items on the recording sheet.
Use a number line to be sure you are forming the numbers correctly.

Sight word parking lot.  Draw a sight word and drive a car to the parking lot space with that word on it.

Read It, Build It, Write It.  Using our color words.

Wikki Sticks … what can you create with the wax like bendable sticks?

After our work jobs were done the children worked on puzzles.
The rhyming card puzzles when lined up were longer than Bransen and Nevaeh.

The blocks and cars are getting all lined up!

The sandbox is also a popular learning centre choice.

Caleb absolutely loves the train track!

The Tinker Toys are great for fine motor and creativity!

The water table is also a popular learning centre choice.

The magnetic rods and balls are also a popular choice.
*I am keeping my eye out for magnetic blocks at yard sales for the class.

The Yellow Brick Road … this is a Sounds In Action activity.
The children take one step for each word they say in a sentence. Concept of Spoken word understanding
that each word is a step.
